Suffolk and North East Essex Maternity and Neonatal Services

Hi Welcome

Hello

Welcome, We’re really glad you’re here.

You may have found out you, or your partner, are pregnant and you may be wondering what you should do next, or perhaps you’re seeking information and advice on preparing to have a baby. Your local maternity system has created this space to offer lots of varied information on maternity-related topics to help you navigate your way through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

We know how important it is to access the care that is right for you during pregnancy and following the birth.  We also know that no two families are the same and that personalisation in maternity care is key. This website is designed to provide you with clear, factually correct information so you are aware of options available to you and your family and feel confident to make informed choices around your maternity care.

There are of course many things you can do that will help with your wellbeing and that of your new baby or babies. It’s never too late to start educating yourself through trusted websites and information providers that will help you to make choices that are right for you and your family.

We understand there are already a vast number of resources available on the internet focussing on pregnancy and birth so it can all be a little overwhelming and confusing. Here we have gathered key information together in one place with content created by maternity health professionals and links to other trusted websites if you would like to read more.

You matter

Remember, as you begin your pregnancy journey your wellbeing and personal needs are extremely important. Your maternity care providers are there to support and help guide you through this incredible journey. But it is important to realise that every individual has a journey and path that is unique to them, and what may be ideal for some may not be right for you and your baby, and that’s ok. Talking to your midwife about how you’re feeling will help ensure that you are supported in a way that’s best for you.

If you find that you are experiencing any issues or have any comments (good or bad) relating to your maternity care, there are organisations that are ready to listen and offer support.

Giving feedback on your maternity journey helps shape the future of maternity care. It provides local maternity teams an opportunity to listen, learn from lived experiences, and make positive changes in the way they provide care.
