Birthing Unit
The birthing unit cares for women who are over 37 weeks pregnant and who have non-complex pregnancies. The aim is to offer one to one midwifery care in labour and promote active birth with fewer birth interventions.
Labour Suite
The labour suite is an appropriate choice for you if you have a complex pregnancy or would like the option of having an epidural, which is a form of pain relief. You may be transferred to the labour suite if you’ve chosen to give birth at the birthing unit, or you are having a home birth, and experience complications.
Home Birth
If you give birth at home, you’ll be supported by a midwife who will be with you while you’re in labour. If you need any help or your labour is not progressing as well as it should, your midwife will make arrangements for you to go to hospital.
